The most important women in my life.

The most important women in my life.

To Everyone:

This shiny new bog will be used as a pictorial journal of my two years Peace Corps service in Namibia. I’d also like to share with you a current  PCV’s blog with amazing pictures. www.greginnamibia.blogspot.com -Enjoy.

To Future Volunteers:

Over the past 3 months I have come across many “Namibia Specific” questions during my preparation.  Blogs, Peace Corps documents, and the yahoo PC group helped a lot but they could not answer everything.  I did come in contact with a current Volunteer who thoroughly answered all my questions – it helped a lot.  Please don’t hesitate to email me any questions or concerns you might have.  I’d like to help.

Family and friends, please comment. I really love to read those and it lets me know that you are actually reading these postings.  Comments are good but letters are better:

Also, here are some tricks for mailing. Sorry if this is redundant, I also sent this out in emails.

TRICKS FOR MAILING PACKAGES:

  1. Number them.  Some might not make it and other might take a long time to arrive.
  1. Care packages should be in padded envelopes whenever possible. Always, always avoid big boxes unless absolutely necessary. Big boxes get taxed and can have huge custom fees, also higher rate of theft and much slower to be delivered. Padded envelopes are super speedy, and I will most likely pay less to pick them up
  1. Write bible message and draw crosses all over the outside of the padded envelopes (in red marker, too).
  1. If you send care packages, you have to list the contents on a sticker that goes on the front of the package. Never ever ever ever write things like “cd, dvd, clothes, etc.” Everything should say, “bible supplies, office supplies, pens, pencils, pamphlets, etc.” Basically you want it to look as un-enticing as possible.

Thank you to everyone who showed up tonight at the Brewer’s Art. It was wonderful seeing you all and I really appreciate your support.

I look forward to staying in touch with everyone and sharing my experience.  It has been a long process – I’m excited to finally be going.  I love you all! Seriously, I do.
